Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum


Charlotte Hawkins Brown Historical Foundation, Inc.
A private, non-profit organization incorporated in September 1983 to support and assist the State of North Carolina in running the Charlotte Hawkins Brown Museum. The Foundation works closely with the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources, Division of Archives and History, Historic Sites Section, and other interested organizations in the preservation and appreciation of North Carolina African-American history.

Madam C. J. Walker: Entrepreneur, Philanthropist, and Social Activist
This detailed and interesting site is administered by A'Lelia Perry Bundles, the great-great-granddaughter of Madam Walker, and a former producer with ABC News's World News Tonight in Washington, D.C. Madam Walker was a contemporary of Charlotte Hawkins Brown and made contributions to PMI. Ms. Bundles is writing an updated biography of Madam Walker and four generations of women in her family. (New sections on alumni and contributors will soon be added to the Brown Museum Website).
